Peabody and Emmy Award-winning journalist and producer Maria Shriver gives the commencement address to the class of 2012 at the USC Annenberg School of Communications. Her message is something everybody can learn from.
“But today, I have one wish for you. Before you go out and press that fast forward button, I’m hoping – I’m praying – that you’ll have the courage to first press the pause button. That’s right: the pause button. I hope if you learn anything from me today, you learn and remember — The Power of the Pause. Pausing allows you to take a beat — to take a breath in your life. As everybody else is rushing around like a lunatic out there, I dare you to do the opposite.”

Good luck. This is the most inspirational speech I’ve heard this year. Why do we only hear these when graduating? One would need this when turning 40, or fifty or anything.:-) Just wonderful!

So spot on!In the eighties, the image of the maunclise ruthless professional women who emulated their male counterparts was an iconic, if not cultural stereotype that was spread by movies, books and photography, mostly, (but not always) created by men. It did ask the question if women’s equality meant the sacrifice of femininity. 3 decades later, women have proved that it is by assuming their gender, that they are most innovative and competitive in the workplace and in harmony with their chosen lifestyle. Does this brand realize that women today are not the killers, gravediggers and ruthless predators that their add suggest, but sensible and sensitive people that bring balance and innovation to the workplace and a sense of steadfast caring to society.
